The Arrogance of Man
I’m not sure if it’s just because I’m getting older and more perceptive, but men seem to be getting more and more arrogant. I’m sure the arrogance of man has been around since the dawn of time, but today it seems to be more prevalent. I see it nearly everywhere: churches, jobs, families. Men with these know-it-all attitudes. Being humble has been blown out the window and...

Album Update
So before the my new album officially releases I wanted to give an update on the status of the album or any questions you may have.  First, the album title has been decided. The will be titled The Line Between Love and Disaster and will feature 12 songs. (most likely 12) Second, the songs are written and the tracklist is done. Here is the track list.  Love Won’t Let You Go Survive Here...

Running on Empty
A couple months ago I was coming back home from Nasvhille after seeing one of my favorite bands, Switchfoot. I was driving back with my girlfriend and two of my buddies in her car. About halfway home I realized I was getting low on gas. I had about four bars left, which was a decent bit so I didn’t really pay much attention to it. I got wrapped up in conversation for the next thirty minutes...

Personal Legalism
I’m not sure why, but we try far too often to line up the Bible with our beliefs rather than line up our beliefs with the Bible. We’ve got it all backwards. You’ve probably done this yourself or at least met others who have. I know many people who pick a verse out of the Bible to reinforce their own legalism, completely taking the verse out of context. What makes the Bible so...

Friction
“As a pearl is formed only when the oyster is agitated with sand, the most important moments of my life were born out of friction.” - Jon Foreman The tension is where we find who we truly are. Our creativity and our passions are born out of this tension. Out of friction. When you’re breathing in all the highs and lows of life, that is when you are most alive. It’s not...

Polarity
I love the concept of polarity. Light and darkness. Life and death. Two contrasting ideas that somehow stand in this place we call existence. They reinforce the philosophies of good and evil, right and wrong. We are the very manifestations of polarity. We are not a luke warm creation but a creation capable of great or terrible deeds. We have choices and can decide how and where we live in this...

Defining Success
I always feel a little weird when people ask me what I’m going to school for. There are couple reasons I feel this way. First off, I’m going to a community college. People tend to look down on community colleges or at least not think highly of them. (Although I did attend a private university for 2 years first) Secondly, I’m a music major. Or, to be more broad, a liberal arts...

Why I'm Not Denominational
I’m young. I don’t know everything. Sometimes I feel like I do. And I have to humble myself by listening and learning from those older and more experienced than me. But there’s something that just needs to be said for those across the board and all ages. Christians need to stop placing so much importance on their denomination. Now that I’ve probably offended some people,...

Into the Heart
I heard a quote once that went something along the lines of, “Be kind to everyone you meet, for they are fighting a hard battle.” I’m not sure of the author, but I think they were on to something. On the surface we all seem, for the most part, okay. Some of us may seem happier than others and vice versa. But it really doesn’t matter because you can be happy and still not be...

Facing Reality
Right now, I feel quite comfortable. I’m sitting in my warm, cozy bedroom writing a post on my laptop while drinking a mountain dew and being a bit philosophical. For the moment, the world feels right. I feel right. But deep down inside, I know something is terribly wrong. It only takes a second to turn on the news and see a bomb that’s desecrated the lives of so many others in another...

Meant for More
There’s something I’ve been learning over and over again lately. The world does not owe you anything. Life was not designed so that you could grow up, get money, have a family, and live comfortably. But that’s not what we’re told to believe. We’re raised up to believe that everything is going to work out perfectly. All we have to do is finish high school, get a...

Never Give Up
Often times I have this longing to write. Usually in the form of a song or a blog post. It doesn’t really matter. I sometimes wonder why I have the urge to write. I think it’s a way for me to try and figure out this life. Every day I think about purpose. Life. Existence. What all of it means. How can we, as humans, comprehend the vastness and complexity of life. And yet, here I am,...

A Well That Won't Run Dry
“Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” - John 4:13-14 Our culture is geared towards one thing: happiness. Or more specifically, comfort and pleasure. And we don’t want to patiently...

Forever Now
When you’re sixteen years old you feel like the world is going to last forever. You don’t have ability to look ahead yet and so you feel, in a sense, control. You feel that you have control over time and where you are headed. After all, high school isn’t even over. And then, you’ve got college. Man, adulthood is forever away. But boys and girls, forever is now.  A couple...

Were in this together
Here recently I found out that a young girl at my church had her mother pass away. The girl is only 14 years old and I can’t even begin to imagine the pain she must be feeling. She serves with me some times on the worship team and the other day I was watching her as she interacted with people. She was smiling, laughing, and going on about the day as she would normally. As I was looking at...

There seems to be a lack of male Christian...
nonelikejesus: I see plenty of female Christian bloggers but very very few male ones. So I’m wondering, where are all my brothers in Christ? If you are a male Christian blogger, please do me (and my followers that have asked repeatedly about male christian bloggers) a favor and reply to this post and/or reblog it. I’d love to follow some more men of God!! Here I am.

A Life to Live
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a Ride!’” - Hunter S. Thompson Never let yourself live under other people’s dogma. The way the world spins isn’t always...

Your Song
If you don’t already know, I’m a musician. I love music and it has been a huge part of my life for about seven years now. I started playing guitar, singing, and writing songs about seven years ago and it’s taken me places I never thought I’d go. A lot of times I think of life much as I do music. I listen every day to the rhythm of the traffic and I hear the emotions in the...

Hope in Christ
There have been many times in life where my world is spinning out of control. Times where I’ve totally lost who I am and where I’m headed. Times where I can’t even find God in the midst of my tragedies. There are times I feel forsaken and alone. I feel crippled by the fear of the future and what it may hold. There are questions that constantly flood my mind and keep my up at...

21 Years Young
Today I turn 21 years old. It’s hard to believe that life has progressed this fast. The one thought that I find myself thinking on this day is, Am I where I’m supposed to be? You see, I’ve had dreams of who I want to become and plans on how I’d get there. Honestly, it hasn’t all gone according to plan. I’ve been sidetracked a few times, taken off to different...

God, why?
“God, why [fill in the blank].” This question is on my mind almost all of the time. Whether it’s, “God, why do I feel alone,” or “God, why did this happen to me?” There are so many questions that I ask God throughout the week. Questions about suffering, purpose, dreams, relationships, etc. And this is good. There’s nothing wrong with questioning God....

Hope in the Storms
No matter who you are, or where you from, you are probably going through or have gone through difficult times in your life. If you’re like me, you’re probably discontented with where you are but don’t want to do anything to change it. Maybe you want a different job. Or a different home. Maybe a different spouse or a different car. Maybe you’re problems are more serious....

Why bad things happen
One question I hear over and over again is “why is this happening to me?” You may have asked yourself this question many times. I know I have. Why did my car break down? Why did my father abandon me? Why did my best friend pass away? There are so many questions about pain that go through our lives on a daily basis. Everybody you pass has a story and in some sort of pain. Marriage...
